Sporobolus wrightii (Giant Sacaton)

Grass

Giant Sacaton is native from west Texas into southeastern Arizona, found at elevations from 2000 to 7000 feet. This tough grass makes a great ornamental show as well, forming clumps to about 5 feet tall and wide of gray green leaves. Green flower spikes are produced in late summer, and then fade to tan and persist through the fall.
