Native to the Southwest and Mexico at elevations from 3000 to 5000 feet, this woody deciduous shrub has bright green compound leaves on dark branches. Terminal clusters of bright yellow flowers provide summer color and are followed by shiny brown-black pods. Plant in full sun and well-drained soils.
