Quercus turbinella (Scrub Oak)

Native from California into west Texas at elevations from 2500 to 6000 feet, this evergreen shrub is dense with a mounding form. The oval leaves are small, leathery, and gray-blue. Small, slender acorns ripen in the summer, providing food for wildlife. Plant in full sun to part shade and in well-drained soils.
