Native to the hill country west of San Antonio, Texas, this deciduous oak has large, deeply lobed, bright green leaves. In the fall the foliage turns a spectacular red color. Plant in full sun and well-drained soils. In low deserts avoid reflected heat exposures and provide moderate irrigation.
