This native of southern Arizona, Mexico and Central America grows along stream beds and in canyons, from 4000 to 5000 feet. Long, narrow green leaves provide a lush feel in oasis zones and around water features. This perennial blooms from spring through fall with loose clusters of red tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds. Provide some protection from afternoon sun, and provide moderate to ample irrigation. Remove frost-damaged foliage in the early spring. Plant regrow quickly from underground stems.
