Euphorbia rigida (Gopher Plant)

Accent/Succulent

This shrubby evergreen perennial is native to the Mediterranean. Its long, arching stems are lined with fleshy, grey-green leaves. Broad clusters of chartreuse flowers occur at the branch tips in the winter and early spring. Flowers are followed by small brown seed pods. The stems die back after flowering and seed production, leaving a low basal rosette of grey-green foliage. Remove the spent flowering stems in late spring. Plant in full sun or part shade, and in soil with excellent drainage.
