Salvia chamaedryoides

Mexican Blue Sage

Native to eastern Mexico at elevations from 7000 to 9000 feet, this low mounding perennial has small, fragrant, silvery leaves that make an effective backdrop for the short spikes of bright blue flowers. The heaviest bloom occurs in the spring and early fall, with intermittent bursts throughout the summer. Plant in full sun to part shade, and in well-drained soils. Hummingbirds love the flowers!
