Penstemon strictus

Rocky Mountain Penstemon

Indigenous to the grasslands of Colorado and Wyoming at elevations from 7000 to 8000 feet, this perennial blooms in the early summer with 2-foot-tall spikes of violet-blue flowers. It has long, narrow, dark green leaves. Hummingbirds are drawn to the flowerss. Plant in full sun and well-drained soils. It reseeds readily.
